چکیده

Modelling clay behaviour is a challenging task because many of the microscopic features are still unknown including interparticle forces and particle association, which may explain different behaviours when subjected to hydro-mechanical loading. This paper presents an experimental study investigate micromechanical interactions particles. Kaolinite samples were compacted high vertical stresses granulometry laser tests carried out agglomeration. Samples in dry state, with 10% water content dispersant solution content. The results show that loading generated When comparing specimens using pore fluids, agglomeration process more pronounced at values dielectric permittivity (water). concludes association particles forming agglomerates due van der Waals forces. was mainly inferred from observation occurred even prepared solution. also indicates occurs face-to-face mode stress applied. A similar response sodium hexametaphosphate environmental scanning electron microscope images this type arrangement. comprehension associations can improve discrete modelling fine-grained materials.

An Experimental Investigation into the Arching Effect in Fine Sand

In the current paper results of a well instrumented experimental procedure for studying the arching effect in loose and dense sand are presented. The apparatus comprises concentric circular trapdoors with different diameters that can yield downward while stresses and deformations are recorded simultaneously. As the trapdoor starts to yield, the whole soil mass deforms elastically. However, afte...

An Experimental Investigation of the Effects of Canard Position on the Aerodynamic Forces of a Fighter Type Configuration Model

An extensive experimental investigation is conducted to study the effect of canard position relative to the fuselage reference line on the aerodynamic forces of a fighter type configuration model. Aerodynamic forces at different flight conditions are measured in a subsonic wind tunnel. The wing and the canard have triquetrous shapes. Experiments are conducted at Reynolds number of 342209 and at...

An Experimental Investigation of Reactive Absorption of Carbon Dioxide into an Aqueous NH3/H2O/NaOH Solution

In this research, the reactive absorption of carbon dioxide in an aqueous solution of NH3, H2O, and NaOH has experimentally been investigated. The experiments were carried out in an absorption pilot plant in different operational conditions. The composition and temperature of both gas and liquid phases were obtained during the column height. The concentration of molecular ...
